Instructor Level Courses

First Aid/CPR/AED: The purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED courses, select Skill Boosts and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.

Prerequisite: Participants must hold a current base-level certification in First aid/CPR.

Dates: TBD or upon request

Fees: $275 for NFC Members | $300 for non-members

Lifeguard Instructor: The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level courses and modules in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program.

Prerequisite: Instructor candidates must:

  • Be at least 17 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the Lifeguarding Instructor course.

  • Possess a current basic-level certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.

  • Obtain all required instructor and participant course materials before starting the course.

  • Successfully complete the online session of the Lifeguarding Instructor course prior to the precourse session.

  • Successfully complete the prerequisite skill assessment scenario to continue in the course.

Babysitter’s Training

This in-person course prepares youth ages 11-16 to safely and confidently care for children and infants. It includes hands-on activities, videos, and discussions to develop essential, real-life readiness babysitting skills. The course covers feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children, safety and emergency response.

  • Most Red Cross certifications are valid for two years, depending on the course.

  • Yes, we offer recertification courses annually and on demand for organizations.

  • Yes, we offer group and on-site training options for businesses and organziations.

  • Some of our certification trainings do have prerequisites. Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor courses require participants to meet a minimum age and demonstrate water competency before participating.
