Our history and legacy.
For over 40 years, the building at 900 W Western has served the Muskegon Lakeshore. When the previous fitness center closed its doors at the start of the pandemic in 2020, it left a void in the workout community and hundreds without a place to call their gym.
In 2021, a group of avid supporters of both the fitness center and Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore (who now owns the property) came together to raise funds to kick off a capital campaign to bring a fresh approach to this community fitness center.
Momentum built, and community members started steeping up to contribute however they could. Now, ground has broken, and with each new day the excitement to return to our beloved “gym on the lake” builds. You can follow along for the story here.

Who are we?
Neal Fitness Center (NFC) is more than a gym; it’s a community.
Everyone who comes through our doors has a unique fitness journey and goals, so we have worked to bring Muskegon an innovative approach to becoming the best you can be no matter what you're into. When the renovations are finished, we will be able to offer access to dynamic fitness classes, Muskegon Lakeshore’s only 6 lane 25 meter pool, bike trails, basketball, pickleball and more so that everyday your fitness lifestyle can stay fresh and ultimately redefine your routine.
